Meet Our Team

SMC has a part time pastor and lots of shared leadership within the congregation. It takes a village! Here are some of our current leaders:
Leah Rittenhouse - Pastor

Leah is pastor at SMC and part-time Youth Program Manager at Laurelville Retreat Center. She’s passionate about studying the Bible, asking questions, and wrestling with the text together. She loves sharing her learnings in ways that are accessible to all ages. Leah has a special heart for those who have been hurt by the church and desires to be a safe space for those experiencing shifting perspectives, doubt, or who are asking questions that have historically made church people uncomfortable.

Brittany Mardis - Administrative Assistant

"I really appreciate Scottdale Mennonite Church for being such a caring and gracious community. Everyone is so kind and understanding, and it’s a blessing to be part of a group that truly supports one another. I’m grateful for the chance to serve through my secretary work and to be surrounded by people who live out their faith with such genuine love."

Debra Faszer-McMahon - Executive Chair

“I love that at SMC, people know me and care about what I am struggling through or celebrating. Worship feels authentic and connected. Pastor Leah always makes me think deeply about important issues, and I love the music. SMC feels like home.”

Hannah Kupets - Community Connections

“One thing I appreciate about SMC is the commitment to showing up in tangible ways outside of the church. Being a part of the larger community (of fellow Mennonites, our local community, our global community) is something SMC takes seriously and finds important to our faith journey.”

Audra Shenk - Faith and Life

"I love that we are kinda weird and quirky at Scottdale Mennonite. Our Peace and Social Justice stance may be different from most mainline denominations, and that's OK. Maybe that can be a gift we have to offer our community here in Scottdale, PA."

Ken Millslagle - Building Administration

"I appreciate the closeness of my church community and that we are walking the journey together. I also appreciate that we aspire to be a church where all are welcome."
